Brinmart is a classifieds platform — we connect buyers and sellers, but transactions happen between the two of you. Follow these tips to stay safe.
🚨 Important
Brinmart does not process or hold payments, does not verify item quality, and is not party to transactions between users. Always meet, inspect, and pay in person.
📍 For buyers — before you meet
- Verify the seller. Check their profile — when they joined, ratings, response history.
- Ask questions over chat before agreeing to meet. Scammers avoid specific questions.
- Search the price. If it's way below market value, it's probably a scam or stolen.
- Never send money in advance — no deposits, no "reservation fees," no transfers before you see the item.
- If the seller refuses to meet in person, walk away.
🤝 When you meet
- Public places only — banks, malls, busy markets, mall parking lots in daylight.
- Bring a friend, especially for high-value items.
- Inspect everything: photos can hide damage. Power on electronics, check serial numbers, count items.
- For phones and laptops: check IMEI/serial against the manufacturer's site to confirm not stolen.
- Pay only after you're satisfied. Cash, bank transfer to a verified account, or POS in person.
🛒 For sellers
- Don't hand over the item before payment confirms. Wait for the bank alert; SMS alerts can be faked.
- Meet in public — same rules as buyers.
- Beware of overpayment scams ("I sent extra by mistake, send back the difference") — it's always a scam.
- Don't share account details over WhatsApp screenshots that can be edited.
- If a buyer pushes you to take payment outside the agreed method, refuse.
🚩 Red flags — these usually mean scam
- Pressure to act fast ("Someone else is buying, send the money now").
- Refusal to meet, do a video call, or speak on the phone.
- Price way below market value.
- Requests for OTP, bank PIN, or account verification "to confirm payment."
- WhatsApp screenshots as "proof of payment" — these are fake 99% of the time.
- Sellers claiming items are abroad and asking for shipping fees upfront.
🛡️ See something? Report it.
Every listing has a Report button at the bottom. Use it for scams, fake items, illegal content, or anything suspicious.
Reports go to our moderation team within 24 hours. Confirmed bad actors are banned and their listings removed.

⭐ Trust signals to look for
- Seller is verified (blue tick on their profile).
- Profile has been active for a while with multiple listings.
- Positive reviews from other buyers.
- Detailed listing description and clear, original photos (reverse-search them on Google to be sure).
- Responds to messages quickly and answers specific questions.
